Unit 11 1.1 - Strengths & Ambitions

Once the induction week was complete, the first task of the year was introduced though a PowerPoint presentation and a explanation of the brief. I needed to reflect on the skills I have already attained through my first year of this course. As well as this, I needed to incorporate my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats within this piece of course work. In a written document I discussed the technical and transferable skills I have developed, what my ambitions are for this year and the future and finally the skills I need to develop to achieve my goals. For example some of my strengths are planning and organisation, my weaknesses are camera work and working with portable lights, my threats are not knowing how to use the new equipment and resources and an opportunity from that would be that I have the chance to work with new equipment and expand my knowledge. For this task, I didn't need to carry out any research as I only needed to use my memory from last year and to think about what I have accomplished and what I need to do to improve.

Unit 11 2.1 For this piece of coursework I needed to discuss professional CVs, show reels, interview skills, communication skills, advancing practical skills, organisational skills and self branding. Within these topic titles I had to explain and evaluate: When is it needed? What does it show case? Why is it important? What is included on it? RN Media Studies Weekly Update (Level 3, Year 2)

Week 1 The first week has mainly revolved around induction and becoming familiar with my new environment. On the Tuesday, the media & technology and photography classes went to the show room cinema in Sheffield to watch 'Patti Cakes'. The film itself wasn't beneficial to me personally but the introduction made by an employee opened up a few opportunities to me. She stated that the show room allows younger people to view films for a lower price, that they have discussion groups about fils and that they allow people, especially students, to show case their work. I can use this to my advantage when I feel comfortable to show other people what I have produced. I could also show case my unfinished pieces so I can get a wide range of opinions on how I can change it for the better. Therefore having a better chance at a higher grade.
