Through My Eyes Short Film - Film Blog

Pre-Production During pre-production, I created a number of documents. I already had a strong idea of what the pre-production stage entailed as I completed all the pre-production forms in the year prior to this so I had little difficulty during this stage. I duplicated and altered some for each different time the group filmed on different locations. Due to an issue during production, I had to create new pre-production sheets at last minute due to a main character falling ill on the day we scheduled to film. This including casting a new member from the class, asking him to sign a performers consent form and then quickly running through the script (See production section for more detail on this incident). The list below consists of all the pre-production sheets I created and handed in for submission. Setting up Four Fix Editing

Image
Four Fix Editing Logo The first logo I created was created quite quickly. I knew I didn't want the logo to be overly complicated as then it wouldn't be as rememberable and effective. I liked the look of the first logo I created, as it was simple and it adequately shows the audience what services my business is offering. I then decided to create another logo in which I was more happy to use for my business. I used the website 'Free Logo Design' to create a very similar logo to the one on the left. I then recreated the logo on Word Processing as the website didn't allow me to download a high resolution version of the logo I created. And the image on the right was the final product, until I made a new one. https://www.freelogodesign.org/index.html This website is a very useful resource to use when you are setting up a business as it give you all the right tools to create a professional logo. It also gives you an option to select the type of business you're...

Unit 11 2.2

Unit 11 2.2 This task is the practical element of Unit 11 2.1, as now I have written about Professional CVs, show reels, interview skills, communication skills, practical skills, organisational skills and self-branding; I would now have to put my theory knowledge to a practical test. I now needed to create my own show reel, line of self branding and professional CV. I began by creating my show reel and then professional CV, then created a logo, business cards, website, Instagram and YouTube channel. When creating, I didn't need to use any additional links as I just used the ones I gathered when researching Unit 11 2.1. I have created another blog post where I discussed and explained how I set up these each individual self branding lines. See below: http://mcardwellrc.blogspot.co.uk/2017/10/setting-up-four-fix-editing.html

Unit 11 2.1

Unit 11 2.1 For this piece of coursework I needed to discuss professional CVs, show reels, interview skills, communication skills, advancing practical skills, organisational skills and self branding. Within these topic titles I had to explain and evaluate: When is it needed? What does it show case? Why is it important? What is included on it? Advantages Disadvantages Professional CVs I began researching professional CVs by carrying out a simple google images search. It allowed me to see the layout of professional CVs and what is included. From this search I decided to include (Not in this particular order): My name Address and other personal contact detaila Professional contact details and social media About me section My education history My hobbies and interests Media experience General  and media related skills  Software knowledge Qualification References Current employment and my duties  For most of the questions I answered ab...

Short Film Research

Initial Idea Last year I came up with an idea to create a music video for my final major project, though later I changed my mind and produced a feminism documentary. I kept the notes I made when I originally came up with the idea earlier this year. Therefore, I am revisiting my ideas and altering them o fit the format of a short film. I am still using the music video 'Cool Blue' by The Japanese House as a reference to the types of shots I want to achieve and the effects I would like to learn and use.  The general idea for my short film will be about young adults figuring out their futures, exploring and expressing their feelings. I want the end result to look authentic, handmade and effortless. In terms of the story line, it will follow the (Todorov's Theory - http://mikedyera2mediastudies.blogspot.co.uk/p/todorovs-theory.html ) structure of: Equilibrium Disequillibrium New Equilibrium Once I concluded that I was going to create a short film in whi...

Unit 11 1.2

Unit 11 1.2 - Strengths & Ambitions My next task was to take the information I evaluated about my future ambitions and research what jobs are currently available within the media and progression routes such as university, apprenticeships and job training. Then researching and explaining the steps you will need to go through to work towards these routes. Producer The first job role I researched was the role of a producer. The role of a producer interested me as I personally enjoy creating content and editing it into a final piece. I have a creative mind and I like how producer take a strong role within a production team. I researched a number of progression routes, the qualification requirements, the skills needed, what the role of a producer entails, common employers and types of work experience that will help me gain the correct skills to progress as a producer. https://www.prospects.ac.uk/job-profiles/television-film-video-producer The link above benefited ...

RN Media Studies Weekly Update (Level 3, Year 2)

Image
Week 1 The first week has mainly revolved around induction and becoming familiar with my new environment. On the Tuesday, the media & technology and photography classes went to the show room cinema in Sheffield to watch 'Patti Cakes'. The film itself wasn't beneficial to me personally but the introduction made by an employee opened up a few opportunities to me. She stated that the show room allows younger people to view films for a lower price, that they have discussion groups about fils and that they allow people, especially students, to show case their work. I can use this to my advantage when I feel comfortable to show other people what I have produced. I could also show case my unfinished pieces so I can get a wide range of opinions on how I can change it for the better. Therefore having a better chance at a higher grade. I didn't research into any links though out my first week as it was only an induction week. My plans for next week is to learn about the ...
